"The Magic of Irish Heritage"

In 2000, Irish author Anita Hendy wrote a series of children’s books: The Magic of an Irish.... Cottage, Bog, Castle, Canal and Church. Anita wished to bring Irish Heritage to the World. In 2009 a magical thing happened, the World wants to come on a trail of her books to Allen Parish. (40 minutes from Dublin.) Books are available on www.anitahendy.com & in all shops in the parish. So the trail begins in the village of Robertstown going via canal walk, to Lowtown...a lock and boat harbour. Then, by canal or road to Ballyteague. At the football club, a picnic area is on the opposite side to the canal bridge. Then, crossover a lock, turn left, up a short road to a bridge, and see the House where Anita wrote her fabulous books. From there, the trail goes back over the bridge and, turning left, goes on towards Ballyteague Castle. At the Castle, cross back over the bridge turning right, into a main road, go past the Thatched Cottage on a bend. Then, travel on a scenic route for about two miles, through Ballyteague Bog. At the end of this road is a T junction, turning left, and left again at the the next T junction. Travelling on, with Historic Allen Hill on the right, to a staggered crossroads, turn left towards Allen Church. Turning right, coming out of the Church, the trail goes to Kilmeague Village. Turning left at the end of the houses, up the hill and turn right to return to Robertstown. This trail is approx 13 miles, and can be walked, cycled, travelled by boat, car or bus. Entry is free and it can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
